It all started on a Saturday night in 1950 at the Sunny Side dance hall in Mount Joy, Ontario. Jeanne-D`arc was up to Timmins for a weekend and this is when she met Yvon that Saturday night and fell in love. Yvon's courtship with Jeanne-D`arc lasted 2 years before they married on August 7, 1952 in Sturgeon Falls. Yvon joined the Canadian Army March 29, 1952. He was called out for duty in the Far East, to "The Korean War".

Yvon later moved his family to Sturgeon Falls working as a dump truck driver for Peel Construction Brampton, paving the Trans Canada Highway, Hwy. 17. On September 7, 1956, their second child Rejean was born in Sturgeon Falls. With no work, Yvon moved to North Bay in 1958 working as a truck driver.
